Interestingly enough, Google's got Apple beat on this one. My wife's Thinkpad running Picasa has no problem showing a slideshow with video clips interspersed among the photos. My "elegant," "user-friendly," "media master" of a Mac just ignores them.

I will gladly join this chorus; I prefer keeping my files tidy myself.

Right now, I'm stuck with a SPOT-color that can't be deleted - nor found anywhere manually within the document - which was what brought me to your site aswell..

Unfortunately, you didn't know the answer either - so I guess I'll just have to keep googling. Cheers :-)

A search for InDesign phantom colors brought me to your (gorgeous) site (such a beautiful, clean, brilliant take on the blog layout). You are the first person to echo my sentiments about scrubbing out file detritus for oneself and the designers who may pick up your work down the road!

I thought a lot about this when I was strapped to the mill wheel, Chris. I don't think (in this case) that management's goal is consistency for its own sake; I think it's (once again) about somehow forcing would-be captains of design to meet deadlines in a culture that prides itself on all-nighters. And again I think it won't work.

The right question, no. 1: Have we finished the product and planned the marketing campaign carefully before starting the design and production clock?

The right question, no. 2: Do we have enough people on staff to carry the workload and absorb the inevitable delays?

PS -- Your blogs are sucking up my entire morning. Good luck out there. -- MJ

Thanks for the great information.... I am having problems importing the .avi files into iMovie because of the lack of sound. When I play it in iPhoto the movie opens in Quicktime as you said. When I drag the movie into iMovie the video plays but the sound is gone. Do you have any idea how to get the sound to go with the .avi file?

Thanks
